Sustainable Learning: Department for Education and Skills. Creating opportunity, releasing potential, achieving excellence

Schools

Sustainability is now a well used term, appearing almost daily in the media and increasingly in everyday conversation, often as something to strive for. Energy and water use is a sustainability issue with environmental, social and economic implications.

As school users, you are in a great position to lead the way in reducing the negative and strengthening the positive affect the school has; on its occupants, local community, nationally and even globally.

This website helps by providing a structured approach to improving your schools energy and water performance; saving you money, reducing your environmental impacts and bringing about social improvements.

We break down the key elements for success into a number of smaller tasks using a ‘whole school approach’. Issue colourful certificates to reward you for all your hard work and if you are an Eco-School our programme can help you progress through this scheme too.
